Shouldn't be a surprise, but the L.A. Sherrif's department is on the highest level state of emergency alertness. In other L.A. news, by way of scanner, I am monitoring radio comms by the local police, municipal maintenance, local mountains management (they mostly keep important radio and repeater equipment working), ATC, CHP, and perhaps most importantly, the LAFD ACS (Auxiliary Communications Service,) an official amateur radio (HAMM) community providing communications throughout Los Angeles county.

A closed to the public network (only those pre-screened by the FD are allowed to broadcast), they exist to cut through red tape, bottleneck comms, and battle confusion/static during a time of emergency (fires, flood, earthquake, pandemic) by providing eyes on information across the network, enabling those on the ground to get as accurate a picture of the situation.

From listening to them, they are a no-nonsense group of people, who choose their words carefully, and speak concisely so as to not waste a listener's time. Today they relayed information about how to discern fact from fiction when monitoring social media websites. FB got the lowest score when it came to relevance, with Twitter the most effective, as long as you carefully screen who you follow, and what you need to know based on your level of expertise/interest. They strictly avoid "conspiracy" peddlers, sticking with mostly real world fact and information providers. How refreshing!

For those in the L.A. region with radio systems capable of monitoring a wide band of frequencies, their frequency is 147.3
