‘Families first’ coronavirus act sails through US Senate, with additional $1 trillion stimulus in the works
The US Senate has voted 90-8 for the House bill providing for free coronavirus testing, paid emergency leave for those infected, and more funding for social programs. Next up is another bill that would give Americans cash.
Dubbed the “Families First Coronavirus Response Act” by the Democrat-dominated House, the bill sailed through the Senate on Wednesday with 90 votes in favor and only eight opposed. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) had to deal with pushback from his party over what they said were attempts by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to ram through a wish list of permanent entitlement expansions in what was supposed to be an emergency bill.
It was unclear which provisions may have been dropped in the final negotiations. Some estimates said the bill could cost up to $350 billion, mainly in paid sick and child care leave mandate for companies already stressed by the economy that has ground to a halt due to the outbreak.
“It is a well-intentioned bipartisan product assembled by House Democrats and President Trump’s team that tries to stand up and expand some new relief measures for American workers,” McConnell said.
While it has “real shortcomings,” he added, “in this case, I do not believe we should let perfection be the enemy of something that will help even a subset of workers.”
The bill provides free Covid-19 coronavirus testing for all who need it, as well as paid emergency leave for those who are infected or caring for a family member who is. In addition, it gives additional funding to the federal Medicaid healthcare program, food stamps and unemployment benefits.
The Senate is going to vote on the House’s proposal. I will support it. But it does not help enough Americans and, crucially, it adds even more uncertainty for small businesses. It will make it all the more urgent for the Senate to pass bold legislation to help small businesses. pic.twitter.com/R0DjHKBLrI

Exactly,,Where the FK were these IDIOTS When Obama DUBBLED our national Debt From 10..TO 20…TRILLION dollars….Stupid FKers..(Sorry)
U.S. National Debt More than Doubles under Obama’s Wasteful Watch
The U.S. publicly held debt has ballooned by over 50% under President Obama to now approach almost $13 trillion. With no signs of slowing, a debt this monstrous will have disastrous effects upon the growth of our country.
When Barack Obama took office on January 20, 2009, the publicly held debt stood at $6.307 trillion. Contrasting a presidency of lows, Obama grew the publicly held debt to a record high of $12.922 trillion this week. How could Obama have reached such an historic level, accomplished so much change, and harmed America’s future so dramatically in just under six years?
Federal debt held by the public currently stands at about 74% of GDP. This is the highest it has been since the end of WWII. Debt was as low as 35% of GDP as recently as 2007. The CBO projects debt as a percent of GDP will rise to 77% by 2024. This prolonged high level of debt is unhealthy for the U.S. economy.
There are two sides to the issue of government debt: spending and taxation. Debt increases when the government spends more than it takes in. Historically, federal revenues are about 18% of GDP, while federal spending is about 20.5% of GDP. Under Obama, revenue has been steady around 18%. Although taxes could always be lower, lack of revenue is not what is driving the debt problem. Rather, outlays as a percentage of GDP have begun to drift past 21% towards 22%. Furthermore, the CBO projects spending rates to increase past 30% by 2062 and past 36% by 2089. Clearly, we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem, when it comes to solving the debt situation. U.S. debt is at a record high due to Obama’s spending problem.

See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying, ooh taking toll
If you've been bad - Oh Lord I bet you have
