I just called NICS. No announcements on the phone system about closure of the NICS system. Nothing on FBI or ATF websites either.
I sat on hold waiting to talk to someone for about 10 - 15 minutes before giving up, so no verbal confirmation of NICS shutdown yet.
Also, of your local FFL is set up for E-check, they can run your full background check electronically and there should be no reason for that to be shut down.
I'll update if anything changes.
