Distiller here.

Are you telling me absinthe made with Artemisia absinthium contains Artemisinin which is an antiviral? It also contains Artemisia pontica, often.

When distilled the infused absinthe does not carry over the thujone content that makes hallucinations. It's blended with anise seed and fennel. in roughly 1:2:2 ratio.

Can't do that when you're producing it.

Grande wormwood and petite wormwood are the two types used for spirit production (absinthe).

Grande is critically bitter and is used as the main component (holy trinity) of absinthe pre-distillation maceration.

Petite wormwood is a lot less bitter and a principle component of many vermouths (vermouth is a twist of the german word for wormwood).

Petite is used in absinthe to give it its color, along with many other herbs.
