The idea that God would create us as inherently flawed does strike me as dubious.

What seems more likely is that, in practice, we sometimes err and choose what is wrong, and by some process of learning must strive to overcome that. Or rather, we must learn to get better at doing what is actually good. Perhaps putting it in positive terms makes a difference.

Maybe a better way of putting it is that I suspect that on some level we are inherently finite, and thus the chance of "getting it right" all the time is infinitesimal. But maybe if we pay attention our chances can improve HUGELY. Perhaps we are repeatedly given guidance that can be heeded or not.
