I purchase many things on Amazon. It is quick and convenient. The service is exceptional in almost all cases. Of course, I order many books.
The company that truly killed the small-town retailer is Walmart. It's my own opinion that if there is a firm that should be punished economically for what it has done to small businesses, Walmart is a far better target than Amazon. Amazon's business is a fraction of Wally.
It is easier to pick on Amazon because of their on-line business. Only a single point of attack and who does not loathe Bezos.
One also has to wonder if the logistics systems of Wallyworld were not used by WJC to facilitate the drug trade out of Mena, AR.
A re-sorting of our priorities will happen only AFTER SHTF. In a new economy with person-to-person trade, the small store with good quality products and excellent service has a chance to be reborn. Not before this.
