I have a question. Why do jets produce the contrail for several miles straight, then it stops produces a contrail for several miles, then it starts producing a contrail again. Do the pilots turn off the jet engines while in flight or is there another explaination for this? Thank you in advance for your response.

I’ll buy that because it makes sense. What about the NASA Cloud Diagram. When I was a kid in school they taught us the various clouds. But now, a new cloud shows up on the diagram and they call it a Contrail Cloud. Did you ever hear of such a thing?
