lost cause. imo
wait til moar data is released.
In the mean time don't argue, let them tell you about it. And just ask questions. Help them think everything through
Usually people who sound like your neighbors have an unexamined premise - which makes it difficult to reason with them.:
"New York Times is for smart people"
"Stupid uneducated people follow Trump"
Find out as much as you can of what they think by asking questions. Then you will be able to add very small items to what they already know to help them shake free mentally when the time comes.
As a predator studies its prey; Study what they think and why.
Then you'll have a better handle on how to counter.,
Two of my closest friends, Trump haters, just "came around" -ish. One very much so. Took a looooog time. Some friends have died in the meantime… gonna miss it.
Just bide your time and hope they live long enough to see it themselves.
Great Awakening
You can't tell them. They have to see it themselves.
Hardest part is their underlying assumptions which they might not even be aware of.
"So the NYTimes is really a smart paper, When did you start reading it?"
"Do you really think most Trump supporters are dumb?"
I've have some who to be polite, won't say what's wrong with Trump.. They just look at me as though I should know. I think they learned that technique from Rachel Maddow?
The Propagandists let the audience fill in the blank. The news script readers did that with 9/11 - led people to think "everyone" was angry and "everyone" wanted revenge.
Think of the reporter yesterday with the question which insinuated (loaded question) that millions of people were afraid; that was loaded into his question. POTUS just cut to the chase "You're a bad journalist"
But see how the "journalist" subtly introduced the idea of fear - and the assumption "millions are afraid?" Which was actually a suggestion.
One absentminded friend forgot what I told him two years ago, Never put it together that I was a Trump supporter. Called me up "I really want to do something about this Trump situation, " he says (Previously was a rabid Trump-hater Now has calmed down and is just trying to be practical?)
"Could we convince the Evangelicals that God wanted the virus? Make it go viral.. Then lead them to understand that Trump & God made it happen"
"Phrase it like a rumor" "Make it go viral"
"Do you think they all could be woken up"
?
Perfect mirroring.kekkekkekke
Made absolutely no sense.
I had to explain to him that the Evangelical Trump supporters do not share his assumptions - such as "God is behind it"
Or that Trump was behind God's desire for the virus.
