Never met a victim of communism when I was a teenager and I was the dumbest motherfucker in the world, but stories of life under communism made an impression on me, so that by the time I grew out of liberalism in my mid 20s, I had never had a positive view of Soviet Russia or any other place under communism.
The anti drug arguments did not work on me but learning about communism did.
Fundamental fact is that the American public schools are cesspools of incompetence and idiocy. There is a void to fill there.
