Have to keep in mind a couple of things.

First of all, European papers will use anything they can to discredit and ridicule Trump.

Last Sunday the Welt (German newspaper) ran a story (top of the fold headline in the print edition) saying that Trump offered a German researcher 1 million dollars to come work for the US on the condition that any breakthroughs would be for US use only. Source was "German government sources".

German company involved immediately said it was complete bullshit. Company researchers worldwide met to discuss consolidating universal approaches. That wasn't top of the fold news the next day, surprise, surprise.

Secondly, Europeans are not brainstormers. Orders are passed own from the "Top" and as an underling you toe the company line and STFU if you know what's good for you..

That a group can be formed to hash out divergent opinions, and that they passionately argue their positions is an unknown quantity. The 'Right' answer is passed down from the top, so, by projection, Trump must be making edicts based on his personal opinion, because that what they themselves would do. That Fauci may have been less convincing than other experts in a battle of ideas is not part of their equation.

Not trying to cut Fauci slack here, but the idea off a knock down, drag out brainstorming session isn't part of the European reality. No way he, or anyone, should do any kind of interview with the motherfuckers. He should know better, at the very least. If he did it purposely, then he needs to go.
