they both are likely testifying in exchange for a life (vs death) sentence to a military tribunal.
Both are apparently mossad spies and are valuable torture type assets to add to the collection at Gitmo.
Many will go down because of them. The only public part of their demise was to get them convicted to be sent to jail. From there it is PAIN.
