My belief is that cases like hers, those that get intense media attention, are 'high-dollar' trafficking operations, commanding large amounts of money to either purchase the, now famous person, or for pornographic/snuff videos. This theory requires some level of media cooperation.
Well, the stage is certainly being set. I can't imagine more perfect conditions for what has to happen. I never predict, but am convinced this is it.

Biden’s vice presidential options will include at least six or seven women who will be subjected to background checks to ensure there will not “be any snafu,” he told donors at a fundraising event held by telephone.
“I have to start that vetting process relatively soon, meaning in a matter of weeks,” he said. “I think there will be a group that is in excess of six or seven people who I’ll look at.
