dont buy the hype anon. it will affect every industry with H1b visas, not just the tech industry. their visas will be automatically renewed, but its not like you have to stay home as the country shuts down and they get to go do your job instead. they are trapped here and will have to ride out the storm in isolation just like you and me. we cant afford the resources to systematically deport millions of "legal" workers in the midst of a global pandemic. as industry returns after the storm, americans will return to work first, and the need to continue those H1b visas will be re-evaluated at the appropriate time.
