Former Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Preparedness and Response accused the Center for Disease Control with lying to President Trump over the effectiveness of the coronavirus testing kits.

Chris Meeks told ABC3340 that in recent discussions with top federal officials and physicians he was told the CDC lied to HHS Secrtary Alexander Azar and in turn President Trump about their preparedness to carry out the mass testing for the coronavirus.

As the coronavirus spread to all fifty states over the last two months, the Trump administration faced mounting criticism for the lack of reliable, widely accessible test kits. Now, a former senior federal health official nominated to his post by President Trump, alleges that the delays in testing occurred because leaders at the Centers for Disease Control “lied” to the president, and to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, about the center’s ability to produce the kits.

In making the allegation, Chris Meekins, a former assistant secretary of Health and Human Services for preparedness and response, cited private discussions he has held in recent weeks with top federal officials and physicians and scientists employed in private-sector industries that are active in the anti-coronavirus effort. Meekins described his contacts on the White House Coronavirus Task Force as “friends,” some of whom he has known for many years.

“From my conversations with members of the task force, both inside and outside the administration,” Meekins told Sinclair in an exclusive interview, “The U.S. government, from Secretary Azar to the president relied on the Centers for Disease Control to produce a test; they failed….CDC said they would handle it….What we have found out is that these leaders at the CDC lied to both the HHS secretary and, by extension, the president. And as a result the nation got weeks behind.”

CDC has acknowledged that its initial stab at mass production of the test kits encountered “a problem,” and that federal deployment of safe testing equipment lagged as a result.

Mexican man in ICE custody passes away in Texas

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A Mexican man in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Enforcement (ICE) at the Port Isabel Detention Center (PIDC) in Los Fresnos, Texas, died Saturday at an area hospital.

Ramiro Hernandez-Ibarra, 42, was pronounced dead at 5:46 a.m. local time by medical professionals at the Valley Baptist Medical Center, in Harlingen, Texas, where he had been hospitalized since March 19, 2020.

The preliminary cause of death was listed as complications related to septic shock.

Consistent with the agency’s protocols, the appropriate agencies have been notified about the death, including the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG), and the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). Additionally, ICE has notified the Mexican consulate and Hernandez-Ibarra’s next of kin.

ICE is firmly committed to the health and welfare of all those in its custody and is undertaking a comprehensive agency-wide review of this incident, as it does in all such cases. Fatalities in ICE custody, statistically, are exceedingly rare and occur at a fraction of the national average for the U.S. detained population.

The agency’s comprehensive review will be conducted by ICE senior leadership, including Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA).

On Dec. 21, 2019, Hernandez-Ibarra was encountered by ICE at the Hidalgo County Jail in Edinburg, Texas, where he was serving a sentence for a domestic violence conviction. On Jan. 15, he entered ICE custody and was taken to PIDC. Hernandez-Ibarra was voluntarily returned to Mexico eight times, beginning in 1999. Initial records checks indicate his criminal history included a federal conviction for illegal entry, and state convictions for domestic assault and driving under the influence.

At the time of his death, Hernandez-Ibarra was awaiting removal proceedings.

Honduran man in ICE custody passes away at Texas family residential center

SAN ANTONIO — A Honduran man in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Karnes County Residential Center, in Karnes, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning at the facility.

The 27-year-old, a citizen of Honduras, was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. March 18, 2020. During a routine security check, he was found unresponsive and efforts by facility staff and emergency personnel to revive him were unsuccessful. The preliminary cause of death appears to be self-inflicted strangulation; however, the case is currently under investigation.

He was encountered, with a family member, Feb. 19 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Presidio, Texas, Port of Entry. They were issued an order of expedited removal and transferred to ICE custody at the Karnes facility Feb. 21. At the time of his death, both were awaiting removal back to their home country.

Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice Retweets Call to Remove Trump from Office “Now” Over Coronavirus

The Democrats are fomenting hysteria and a breakdown of the government in their ongoing efforts to drive President Trump from office. For several days they have delayed passage of an emergency relief bill in the Senate, now they are using the COVID-19 Chinese coronavirus as a call to immediately remove Trump from office. The call to remove Trump via resignation or the 25th Amendment was posted around 3 a.m. CDT Monday by 70-ish former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks, an MSNBC contributor who accused Trump of blocking life saving medical equipment from coronavirus patients thereby making it likely the U.S. will end up where Spain is allegedly at by having to ration ventilators in favor of the young.

LEAKED: Internal Email From the New York Times Confirms Three Employees Have Tested Positive for Coronavirus

An internal email from the New York Times leaked to the Gateway Pundit reveals that three employees have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The email, sent from Arthur Gregg (A.G.) Sulzberger and Dean Baquet to all company employees on Wednesday asserted that the latest employee to test positive works on the third floor of 620 Eighth Avenue and was last in the office on Friday, March 6.

The NYT heads began by saying “we’re sorry to say that for the third night in a row we are writing to let you know of a colleague who has tested positive for Covid-19.”

They confirmed that the employee is not hospitalized and is self-quarantined at home.

“We are trying to identify and contact everyone who was in contact with this individual, though we’ve learned in recent days that even with our best efforts it’s impossible to fully achieve that goal. We’re asking those who we can confirm were potentially exposed to monitor their health and self-quarantine until Friday, March 20,” the email continues. “These cases have only reinforced the importance of having the vast majority of our workforce work remotely to ensure the health and safety of you and your family.”

The New York Post reported on the first case in the Times newsroom on Tuesday. By Wednesday, there were three confirmed cases.

“As you can see in our reporting, these confirmed cases are likely to continue to grow. Starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, we will communicate any new confirmed cases in the daily companywide email and #all-company slack. We know you, like us, will be wishing all our friends and colleagues who are impacted, as well as their families, strength in the days ahead,” the email concludes.

House Democrats Unveil $2.5 Trillion Stimulus Counterproposal, $1.5k Direct Checks

Update (1630ET): The new Democrat counterproposal will equate to nearly $2.5 trillion, including a $1,500 direct payment to citizens.

It will include $150 billion in healthcare funding, $80 billion in loans, and $600 per week in unemployment benefits for those affected by the virus. $215 billion will be allocated for state and local funds.

• Includes $1.5k in aid per individual; as much as $7.5k for a family of 5

• Would create a temporary Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation of $600 a week for any worker affected by the virus and eligible for unemployment compensation benefits

• Seeks more than $500b in grants, interest-free loans to small businesses

• Would provide $200b in funding for states; $15b to local govts through the Community Development Block Grant program

• Calls to ensure states can carry out this year’s election with $4b in grant funding; includes national requirement for both 15 days of early voting and absentee vote-by-mail

FBI: White Supremacists Are Encouraging Members to Infect Jews, Cops With Coronavirus

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reported that white supremacists are encouraging members who have become infected with COVID-19 to spread the virus to police officers and Jewish people.

According to the FBI’s New York office, the law enforcement agency has gathered intelligence that reveals that "members of extremist groups are encouraging one another to spread the virus, if contracted, through bodily fluids and personal interactions."

The FBI’s alert, which was released Thursday, notified local police agencies that white supremacist groups have been encouraging their followers to spread their bodily fluids to police through spray bottles. The racist extremists are also urging members to infect Jewish people with the coronavirus by going "any place they may be congregated, to include markets, political offices, businesses and places of worship."

Although the FBI has declined to publicly comment on the alert, it did release a statement to The Hill on Monday stating that “FBI field offices routinely share information with their local law enforcement partners to assist in protecting the communities they serve.”

“These products are intended to be informative in nature, and as such, they contain appropriate caveats to describe the confidence in the sourcing of information and the likelihood of the assessment. Additionally, when written at a local level, these products will note that the perspective offered may be limited to the field office’s area of responsibility,” the statement adds.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a group whose mission is to “stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all,” also reported earlier this month that some extremists online are claiming that Jewish people are “responsible for creating the virus, are spreading it to increase their control over a decimated population” and “profiting off it.”

In a statement to ABC News, Michael Masters, who leads the Secure Communities Network, a nonprofit committed to serving “the American Jewish community concerning matters of communal safety,” commented on how extremists are using the coronavirus to spread disinformation.

“From pushing the idea that Jews created the coronavirus virus to sell vaccines to encouraging infected followers to try to spread the illness to the Jewish community and law enforcement, as the coronavirus has spread, we have observed how white supremacists, neo-Nazis and others have used this to drive their own conspiracy theories, spread disinformation and incite violence on their online platforms,” Masters said.

"While the world faces a deadly pandemic, it’s a stark reminder that certain groups – notably the Jewish community and law enforcement – must also continue the battle against those who wish to hurt or kill them," Masters added.

The latest Johns Hopkins University data reveals that there are more than 372,000 coronavirus cases globally, with more than 16,300 deaths as a result. In the US, there are more than 41,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, and at least 517 people have died.
