Well there's the rare earths assuming a Bose-Einstein condensate form whereby they repel all external magnetic and electrical fields, and therefore cannot be assessed or measured. According to this theory a superconducting current is carried by these exotic undetectable elements and this current essentially flows in a different dimension and is what makes the difference between insert matter versus living matter – the essence of life or mind or spirit within living bodies. The theory also has monoatomic gold as being one of these substances.
That's what the alchemists were seeking, perhaps. If interested look up David Hudson on the web and find one of his lectures on it.
Call it life force, qi, chi, whatever.
I half-believe this theory. Hudson did a lot of spectroscopic analysis which eventually led him to the conclusion he was dealing with room-temperature superconductivity in the black samples of Arizona cotton farming soil that he was testing on his cotton farm. It's a fascinating story whether you believe the conclusions or not. The matter magnetically levitated and its weight reduced significantly and then it disappeared when heated. The weight increased when it was cooled and then it reappeared. Really weird stuff.
Rhodium and other rare earth elements in that group.
