Supposedly, it's coming up from under our South Pole, which is why we can't see it in the night sky yet, except from the South Pole observatory. Interestingly, the Vatican owns or has a telescope at the observatory, and the Pope was there recently. Nearly all world leaders have been down for a look-see.
