but can't offer an alternative explanation.
Being a direct descendant of Martin Luther I do not view Mary as an intercessor to, or a stepping stone to Jesus.
Jesus may be the intercessor for GOD (as another anon already noted) but one is not needed to speak with or spend time with Jesus.
