I actually have one of Tarnas' books. It's pretty interesting. I'm an Integral Theory fag here...Wilberian...
Ken Wilber has mentioned Steiner, but he doesn't really show up to much. I'm aware of 2 cases in the integral community that might be related. Genpo Roshi and Marc Gafni. From my perspective, I think the integral community as a whole has hashed those cases well and eliminated contact with Marc particularly. It seems like he is on to bigger and better things.

Personally, I feel there is value in the mystical and don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. As people develop and growth, sexual knowledge is part and parcel. It's a very thin line though. It would be irresponsible of me not to get people to look into the Integral Theory community as well. Jeff Salzman is someone that I think is a total shill, but maybe he's just an ignoramus. There are others. I've not been connected in years, but I know Bill Clinton has made mention of Wilber and I've seen pictures of Obama with a Wilber book in hand.
He's an intellectual force for sure, whether people agree with him or not. He's certainly no Steiner shill. The Bay area and Boulder communities that have built up around the philosophy, however, are very concerning to me. Pretty full of manipulable idiots, high wealth, etc. that are dying for a spiritual leader shill to scrape them over the rocks.
