Putin and Rouhani coming to Ankara for tripartite summit
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Turkey next week for the tripartite summit on Syria to be held in Ankara on April 4, reported Anadolu Agency. The leaders of Turkey, Russia, and Iran are expected to discuss the deteriorating situation in Syria.
In December 2016, to resolve the conflict in Syria, Turkey, Russia and Iran as guarantor countries started the Astana process which run in parallel to the negotiations of the United Nations taking place in Geneva.
According to the press office of the Turkish Prime Ministry, Russian leader Putin will arrive Ankara earlier on April 3 to attend the seventh High-Level Cooperation Council meeting between Turkey and Russia. He will also attend the sod-turning ceremony of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, a joint project of Turkey and Russia to be built at a cost of $20 billion.
