I have seen literally 11,000 or 12,000 bakes back to the beginning with the exception of sleep periods and not going back. I'm saying I just dont GAF if some bakers are comped. The meta discussion about it is as bad as what's complained of.

Rules? There really are no rules. The remedy for bad speech is counter speech. The remedy for namefagging is peer pressure or ignoring. Great free-speech bakers would be ideal but there's no way to force it, under these circumstances.
Sometimes I have to use an identity too, in the role that I do here, but only when that identity is necessary to my job function. The archivists have to identify once in a while too, when they drop archive material. People ask for the owner of qmap once in a while if they have questions about the site. The codefags have an identity. The clockfags have identity. Etc.
Your argument doesn't hold across all circumstances to which you seek to apply it.

Here's what they do. They sequence part of the genome and figure out what it does. They patent it to try and obtain exclusive rights to develop a therapy based on that gene sequence. There are tons of biological patents now. Anything that somebody speculates could have economic value to a big pharma company, some postdoc somewhere is researching it and trying to isolate the specific genetic sequence and figure out its exact biochemistry, in the hope of developing therapeutics
