I told him that depends on the scenario in you mind for what the future holds and what the gov will do in crisis, which is a lot of guesswork with no real answers. Will it be Road Warrior forevermore? Will the gov outlaw holding precious metals? Will it be a country shut down for only two weeks and back to normalcy? or any other option in between.
So he wanted I figure from me, I said I don't think I want a bigger volume than say half a shoe box. I literally want to be able to run with it (and everything else) to the hills, so a ton of metal is stupid, unless you are staying home making yourself a fort knox.

Shoe box is 360 cu in which could hold 2182.9, Ounces of sliver weighing 136 pounds 6.9 ounces valued at $27,110 (US dollars).
Half of that is 70 pounds. Maybe a little heavy, just depends on the scenario.
