Look for private vault space rentals. They are just like bank/credit union safe deposit boxes but NOT located in banking institutions. I rent private space in two states. Cost is about $35/yr each. I also use The Bank of Mother Earth and other means. I bought a five gallon bucket of silver dimes once from a guy that stored them in a pink bucket in his woodpile on the side of his house. The woodpile and bucket were visible from the street for 45 years. One idea that always intrigued me was to store it inside old paint cans on a shelf in your garage. It's a bit messy to retrieve but thieves are lazy in general and garages are full of other easy to fence items.
