Moderna needs a dig and so does CEPI - a group that is funding one of their projects. Moderna has a pipeline chart on their website showing several projects w/outside funding. The Zika vaccine mentioned in PB (to the tune of ~$125M) looks like it might have come through BARDA. Yeah, me either. Quick glance looks like BARDA is the DARPA medical equivilent despite the website touting their good deeds. (Mebbe things are different w/PDJT in charge.)

From the CEPI website: "Epidemic diseases affect us all. They do not respect borders. CEPI is a innovative global partnership between public, private, philanthropic, and civil society organisations. We're working together to accelerate the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases and enable equitable access to these vaccines for people during outbreaks." And "CEPI has secured $760 million investment, with funding from the Governments of Norway, UK, Germany, Japan, Canada, Ethiopia, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Wellcome. The European Commission provides substantial financial contributions to support relevant projects through its mechanisms."
