2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

‘Death of Schengen’: Macron Warns EU Leaders of Pandemic Risking 'Survival of European Project'

The statement comes as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has currently infected almost 465,900 worldwide, continues to increase in all parts of the globe, killing at least 21,000, according to the most recent data.

The EU is appears to be finding it difficult to develop a common approach to counteract the rapidly spreading threat posed by the deadly pandemic, prompting each country to handle the crisis in a different way. Many states have implemented restrictions and closed borders with other EU nations as a preventive measure to slow the spread of the virus.

"The European Union today is actually unable to cope with its main task — to ensure the functioning of a single market. The main duty of the EU is to ensure united economic space, free movement of labor, goods, services and capital. We have obvious problems today with at least three of these components," Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid said on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a draft statement of the European Council seen by Euractiv revealed that EU heads of state have called for the establishment of a Europe-wide crisis management centre in the light of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, 26 EU national leaders held a six-hour videoconference, during which they discussed the outbreak’s repercussions on the bloc’s economy as well as ordering a draft for a recovery plan.

As of Thursday, the European region had registered 29,771 new confirmed infections, to raise the total to 250,287 cases of the deadly coronavirus, along with an additional 1,964 deaths to bring the total to an estimated 13,950.

Nations most afflicted with the virus in the EU are Italy, with at least 74,386 infection cases; followed by Spain, with an estimated 47610 cases; Germany, with at least 36508 cases; France, with an estimated 24920 cases; and Switzerland, reporting 9714 cases.

The US is offering a generous reward of millions of US dollars for handing over to criminals making the announcement much more attractive.

According to RCN Radio in Venezuela, the Trump White House is preparing to designate Venezuela a state sponsor of terrorism in the coming days. One of the wanted men, Cliver Alcalá, claims that Juan Guaidó signed a contract to buy weapons for the movement against Maduro. Alcalá Cordonez says that he will turn himself in to the Colombian authorities.

The Venezuelan opposition led by Juan Guaido is not strong enough to weaken the dictator Maduro, because the tyrant still has the loyalty of the military who are involved in drug trafficking.

Despite the fact that Juan Guaido declared himself President in charge and was backed by dozens of countries around the world, including the United States, the military forces have kept Maduro in power.

Finally, the decisions of the US government in the coming days may drive the end of the socialist regime. The announcement today by the US DOJ accusing Venezuela of being a terrorist financier puts the Marxist regeime in the same company of only four other countries, North Korea, Iran, Sudan and Syria.

L.A. Sheriff Reverses Decision To Close Gun Stores

Villanueva initially classified gun stores as “non-essential businesses” and warned they would face legal consequences if they didn’t follow the county’s order to shut down for mandatory coronavirus quarantine.

But now after facing intense legal pressure for county lawyers, he has reversed his decision and will allow them to remain open.

Footage Of Indian Police Beating Lockdown Violators Goes Viral

With only 500 or so cases confirmed as of Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared in a late-night address that as of midnight (at the time, only a few hours away) the entire country of between 1.3 and 1.4 billion people would be placed under a strict lockdown.

Individuals would be allowed to leave just once per day to buy food, and only for trips to buy essential products like medicine, or to see a doctor.

Modi claimed the 21-day lockdown would be necessary to avoid setting India back "21 years", and argued that "to save India, to save its every citizen, you, your family…every street, every neighborhood is being put under lockdown."

Less than a day later, images and video of Indian police beating citizens caught violating the lockdown, or perhaps mistakenly accused of leaving home for frivolous reasons when they were really out buying food.

Alok Barman, a houseworker who works in south Delhi, said he was beaten by cops when he ventured into the outskirts of the city to try and find food, according to wire reports cited by the NYP.

"Some homes that I work in paid me some money and I thought it was best to get some food in the house. But the police attacked us with sticks and beat us," Barman said. "Now we have nothing to eat."

Another local, Tarique Anwar, said he went out to buy milk and vegetables at a grocery store in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar neighborhood, but was stopped by police, who ordered him to turn back. While the owner of a meat shop, whose name wasn't given, said police beat him for opening his store on Wednesday even though he thought it was protected as an essential business.

"They charged inside and started abusing and beating me," the store owner said.

Saudi billionaire’s mysterious flight to New Zealand

Questions are swirling after a $98 million private jet owned by a Saudi billionaire landed in locked-down Christchurch “after dark” last night.

As travel bans see virtually all global air traffic grounded, a high-end private jet owned by a Saudi billionaire last night landed in Christchurch.

The plane, a $98 million Gulfstream owned by Saudi-based Rashid Engineering, took off from Georgia in the United States, stopping over at Honolulu, before landing last night at Christchurch Airport at 8.11pm local time.

The plane’s apparent owner – Nasser Al Rashid – is reported to be a billionaire with close ties to the ruling royal family in Saudi Arabia, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Christchurch airport communications manager Yvonne Densem said she was aware of the flight and said it was managed appropriately.

One world government needed to cope with COVID-19, says former British PM

'There has to be a coordinated global response…We need some sort of working executive,' said former PM Gordon Brown.

A former British Prime Minister has called for the creation of a global government to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

Gordon Brown, who was both Prime Minister and leader of Britain’s left-wing Labour Party from 2007 until 2010, told British media that the world government he proposed would address the medical and financial crises caused by COVID-19. It would direct efforts to find a vaccine for the virus, organize its production and purchase, and stop profiteers. It would also direct the response of the central banks, protect emerging world markets, and “agree a joint approach to the use of government spending to boost growth.”

The Guardian reported that Brown would have liked the U.N. Security Council to have been invited to an emergency online meeting of the G20 countries today. The meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia, is tackling the issue of the novel coronavirus.

“This is not something that can be dealt with in one country,” Brown said.

“There has to be a coordinated global response.”

During the world-wide financial crisis of 2008, then-Prime Minister Brown convinced “other global leaders of the need to bail out the banks,” the Guardian reported. He then hosted the G20 countries at a summit in London, “which came up with a $1.1 trillion rescue package.”

Contemplating the emerging financial crisis, Brown believes that there should be advocacy for the emerging world markets within the G20 countries through his proposed global taskforce.

“We need some sort of working executive,” he said.

“If I were doing it again, I would make the G20 a broader organization because in the current circumstances you need to listen to the countries that are most affected, the countries that are making a difference and countries where there is the potential for a massive number of people to be affected – such as those in Africa.”

He said also that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund need, as the Guardian paraphrased, “an increase to their financial firepower to cope with the impact of the [coronavirus] crisis impact on low- and middle-income countries.”

Nigel Farage, the leader of the Brexit Party, and a founding member of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), took issue with the former Labour Prime Minister’s advocacy for a world government.

“Gordon Brown doesn’t get it,” he tweeted this morning. “Globalisation is the cause of our problems, not our saviour.”

But English Catholic writer Laurence England found Brown’s advocacy more disturbing than naive.

“Gordon Brown does get it,” he tweeted in response. “The One World Government is about sheer power over populaces, not about helping people. They want a world of slaves. He was a key Bilderberg attendee.”

The Bilderberg meetings have been used as a forum for world elites since 1954 to further their vision for the world. Attendees are free to use information from the discussions. No one is allowed to reveal who said what.

Other high-profile individuals who have participated in the Bilderberg meeting include elites such as David Rockefeller, Bill Gates, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, Emma Bonino, and Pierre Elliott Trudeau.

According to its own literature, the purpose of the annual Bilderberg Meeting is to “foster dialogue between Europe and North America.”

At the 2009 London Summit for the G20, Brown said, “I think the new world order is emerging, and with it the foundations of a new and progressive era of international cooperation.”
