In 1994, Paul R. Tregurtha and James R. Barker acquired the company (Moran Towing) from Thomas Moran. And, Between 1998 and 2007, Moran acquired several towing and towing-related companies. In 1998, Moan acquired Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation of New York, New York. As well as several Turecamo affiliated companies. In 2007, the company acquired the River Parishes Company of New Orleans. And in 2007, Moran purchased Morehead City Towboat Company Morehead City, North Carolina, and the Cape Fear Towing Company, Wilmington, North Carolina.
In 2011, the G and H Towing Company became part of a joint venture between the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. The Bay Houston Towing Company of Houston, Texas, and the Superman and Young Towing Company of Houston, Texas. Serving the Cameron LNG facility near Lake Charles, Louisiana.

James R Barker is the Chairman;
During the Reagan Administration, Mr. Barker served as a member of the Services Policy Advisory Committee of the United States Trade Representative. He also served on the Business Advisory Committee of the Transportation Center at Northwestern University, on the Board of Visitors of Columbia College, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School from 1982 to 1992. Mr. Barker has served on various Boards of Directors, including the boards of GTE (1976-2000), Verizon (2000-2007) and Brink’s (2000-2007).
