RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Nevada, a nonprofit that houses families living at least 30 miles away but who have children receiving treatment at area hospitals, has opened registration for its
annual Red Shoe Gala fundraiser
Taking place Friday, October 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the
Atlantis Casino Resort Spa
the event will incorporate an Oz Couture theme, encouraging guests to wear Wizard of Oz
inspired evening wear for a night designed to raise money for the charity’s work to keep families close during their children’s hospitalization.
“Our Red Shoe Gala is an opportunity for the community to support the House for a night,” said Brock Marquez, executive director of the Reno Ronald McDonald House. “That support means a lot, most important that we don’t disrupt our ability to serve families regardless, that we can continue serving families 365 days of the year.”
The Red Shoe Gala: Oz Couture begins with a cocktail reception, including passed appetizers and drinks. Attendees will be able to peruse silent auction prizes, participate in a Mystery Box game and contend for a special prize reserved for the table exhibiting the best “Oz Couture,” or Oz-inspired evening wear. The dinner and program will start at 7:00 p.m.
Attendees will learn more about how their support directly affects families who find themselves in need of the Reno Ronald McDonald House through family stories and anecdotes and the recognition of special guests throughout the program.
“Just like Dorothy, the families who come to our House are looking for support as they encounter life’s twists and turns,” said Marquez. “We’re excited that this night will show attendees how their participation affects these families on the way to their child’s recovery.”
Tickets begin at $200 per person and tables of eight can be purchased at $1,500. Varied sponsorship levels can be found at the event website, or call (775) 322-4663.. Money raised will support Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Nevada programs: the Reno Ronald McDonald House®, Travel-for-Treatment, RMHC® U.S. Scholarship Program, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® and Ronald McDonald Family Room®. The organization supports more than 700 families each year.
