In the midst of the uncertainty and despair caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Georgia’s faithful are heading to the frontlines of the battle to offer prayers and support to those in the hospital and to doctors and medical staff.

Groups from several congregations are organizing and parking outside of hospitals to sit in their cars, play worship music, and pray for those afflicted with COVID-19 and those who are helping them medically.

Videos of the outpouring of support at three local hospitals, Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton and Cartersville Medical Center have been posted on social media.

Five people were found dead inside a Cartersville-area home Sunday, according to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and GBI agents were called to the apartment, located in the 1700 block of Stonehaven Circle, just after 4:30 p.m., Sheriff Clark Millsap said late Sunday in an emailed statement. The apartment is located in the Stonehaven Falls complex.

“Deputies discovered five deceased individuals inside the residence,” Millsap said.

“At this time, due to the nature of the investigation no further information will be released.” The GBI crime lab will conduct autopsies on the five, the sheriff’s office said.

The names and ages of those found dead were not released. No further details were available late Sunday.
