i posted this late last bread. POTUS is telling all the State governors to handle their supply issues. this could be why!

Mark Levin (not a fan) just referenced this:

The applicant must prove that the community “needs” the new or expanded service, and existing providers are invited to challenge a would-be competitor’s application.

35 states are in charge of deciding if they need equipment or technology. I have been hearing alot of reports of cities closing hospitals and remaining ones being overloaded last 10 years. But HMO's are making billions and sponsoring golf tournaments and living like a nigger rapper on viacom.

https://www.mercatus.org/publications/corporate-welfare/certificate-need-laws-how-con-laws-affect-spending-access-and-quality

Thirty-five states and the District of Columbia currently impose certificate-of-need (CON) restrictions on the provision of healthcare. These rules require providers to first seek permission before they may open or expand their practices or purchase certain devices or new technologies. The applicant must prove that the community “needs” the new or expanded service, and existing providers are invited to challenge a would-be competitor’s application.

Decades of research by health economists, regulatory economists, and antitrust lawyers shows CON laws fail to achieve their expressed goals, limit supply, and undermine competition.

Until now, there has been no systematic way to demonstrate how CON laws correlate with characteristics of local healthcare markets. We offer an easy-to-navigate, comprehensive resource that shows how CON laws correlate with healthcare market factors on a state-by-state basis. We also provide more context for how these laws affect providers and patients in particular states. States on the map colored in blue have CON laws while states in grey do not. Click on the map above to access more in-depth information on each state with CON laws in a downloadable PDF.

Each state profile includes the following:

  1. The most up-to-date account of the healthcare services regulated through CON by each state

  1. How CON laws affect hospital quality based on numerous indicators such as mortality and readmission rates

  1. How CON laws affect total healthcare and physician spending

  1. How CON laws affect the availability of medical imaging services

  1. How CON laws affect access to healthcare facilities

Finally, a Frequently Asked Questions document to serve as a resource for readers, showing how we derived our state-specific estimates, a brief survey of our research and that of others, and an explanation for how we formulated our research questions.

For more information on certificate-of-need laws, see our research, testimonies, videos, and charts at mercatus.org/tags/healthcare-favoritism.

>This is a really big deal anon.

>More equipment and facilities means more competition, quicker appointments and costs go DOWN.

The States caused this flu treatment chaos by saving municipalities millions by consolidating hospitals for multiple communities.

so many angels. i see your point. i see it as a problem when two hospital closed in neighboring cities and now all those people go to neighboring cities. People in the hallways for 24 hours because beds are not available. Total chaos 25/8 in certain towns.

I guarantee reason SF, Chicago, Baltimore, North East are shitting themselves over this and asking for National Guard to build hospital rooms is because they have downsized available care for their growing populations. People are posting videos of NYC with hospitals empty. Elmhurst has 60 people in line for tests and they are showing it globally. 4 million people live in Queens. 60 people in line. there are more people in line at Apple to get new earbuds on a daily basis.

i think he meant the car makers are converting their assembly lines to make ventilators. both are complex machines?

would be awesome if after listening to the PR Mayor complain they started an inventory of all big ticket items in US States stockpiles to make sure they were not selling them to smaller labs for profit.
