JOHN F. KENNEDY
Yale University, 1962
For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie — deliberate, contrived and dishonest — but the myth — persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Was watching a show, “the magicians” (they killed off the character named “Q” very unexpectedly last season, and I know it was not a coincidence) when a character said someone/thing wasn’t real, but that it’s a MYTH like the boogeyman or Santa Claus (to which character named ALICE responds that Santa IS real), and I was immediately driven to look up this quote. It has always struck me, even when I didn’t understand what JFK was saying in the least. Sorry for errors, using phone. Saw keystone/gettyimages and knew I had to post! I love you Anons!
