Las Vegas award-winning filmmaker creates eerie video titled 'CoronaVegas'
>Mar 29, 2020
Local filmmaker and multiple EMMY Award winner Michael Tushaus has created a haunting video titled “CoronaVegas.”
The video, which is a little over 8 minutes long, starts with the world-famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, which has been joined by a warning sign for the coronavirus.
During a “drive” down the Las Vegas Strip, viewers can see the dark exteriors of multiple hotel-casinos, including Treasure Island and the Mirage, Caesars, Bellagio, Excalibur and the Luxor.
The video also features the airport and many scenes throughout downtown Las Vegas.
Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are also seen in the video, dealing with people they are encountering on the mostly empty streets that are normally jammed with hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world.
The police department and hotel-casino security are maintaining a heavy presence on the Strip and downtown to prevent trouble while hotel-casinos, restaurants and other nonessential business are closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Imagine you arrive in Las Vegas after the Apocalypse and only a handful of people remain. Now see for yourself what Vegas looks like without all the fun, all the people, and all the high energy that has made it so beloved.
This is the unfortunate reality of Las Vegas right now, namely on the famed Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street. All casinos and resorts have temporarily closed and locals have faced massive layoffs in result. This short film presents a glimpse of a once vital city, now on complete pause while COVID-19 ravages the nation. When will it end? When will Las Vegas return to its full glory? We hope sooner than later.
