your awareness is alike a house of cards.

overdosing on alkoloids is like knocking it all down, and burning all the cards.

in the morning, when you need to be aware again, what will you do then?

got the message, hung up the phone!

get it?

how many times do you need to go and stare down into the abyss? Why is that fun? What is the purpose of 'tripping balls'?

got the message, hung up the phone.

it means: those who learn and know don't need to keep getting a frightening lesson.

That's fine. I knew a guy who low-dosed himself constantly. He ran an antiques store.

I don't think he was worried about money.

I dropped out of touch with him.

PS: I'm not named nancy.

and I don't come from 'mary' land.

Judy, please!

I do so long to see a copy of an original 1980's verson of the dough knees logo for the deadhead who were from, I want to say 'Maryland' and we saw them in a large group, as almost a tribe of friends at one of the New England shows. And they were all lite up, and in a festive mood. And I think what it was . . . and maybe it's my mind making up a memory, they had knew patches that had little doughboys and they said dough knees on them? or thwy were wearing shirts that had people with knee patches?

or is it possible that all of that was, too, just a group hullcination of us New England/New Brunswick dead heads?

when people are that high in a group, there really isn't a way to approach them in that mode and make a lasting connection that goes beyond an impression like this. They represented to us a group of people who were coherent and loving like we were trying to be.

and it seemed cool to me at the time.

but connecting, or reconnecting? it's a memory. of a time long past. A gathering together. Seeing Ken K. reading from the I Ching the very section you read on the days previous that made you say 'this is talked about in ancient texts, Gathering Together.

the show ends. The crowd disperses after a time. The shakedown street was dissassembled. The kids hitchhike back to their colleges, or bum rides with other deadheads. The next day the streets are clean, because some folks would go and collect the refuse so that the dead heads would maintain the sweet street effect, well loved, and welcome.

That was then. But then they sold out and put out an album called 'In the Dark' and everything changed at the shows. It wasn't sweet street, but really did become a shakedown not in the Navy sense. it was never the same (our age of East Coast deadhead camelot ?)
