Fiber is expensive. The short segment between the pole and you house likely cost as much to install as between the pole and the neighborhood distribution box (divided by the number of households it's serving). And it's bothersome if you ever need to change a fiber setup. Little phased-arrays my actually be cheaper. Definitely easier.
