Australia's deputy Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly says vaccine needed to defeat coronavirus

Deputy chief medical officer Paul Kelly has said it is not possible to defeat the coronavirus without a vaccine, which could take 18 months to develop.

Asked if that timeline was "actually optimistic", he said scientists in Australia and around the world were working hard on a vaccine but that "vaccines for coronaviruses are not easy" and was difficult to predict how long a vaccine would take to develop.
