Turkmenistan Bans Mention of Coronavirus, Medical Masks

The government of Turkmenistan banned the use of the word “coronavirus” in public and empowered police to arrest anyone wearing medical masks in public, Reporters Without Borders revealed on Tuesday.

The repressive Central Asian nation claims it has yet to document a single case of the Chinese coronavirus, despite the ongoing pandemic hitting Iran, which borders Turkmenistan, particularly intensely. Turkmenistan joins a dwindling list of repressive and remote states – like North Korea or Papua New Guinea, respectively – who have no official proof of any coronavirus cases in the country.

Reporters Without Borders cited reporting from within the country’s capital, Ashgabat, reproduced in the local language through the Turkmen branch of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). That reporting painted a grave picture of government officials persecuting individuals who spoke aloud of the pandemic or appeared to be protecting themselves from it. Police are reportedly hiding undercover at bus stops and other populated areas to eavesdrop of the capital’s locals and seize anyone who violates the order.

Turkmenistan’s dictator Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov also banned state-run media, the only legal form of media in the country, and health officials from distributing safety information about the virus or using the word “coronavirus” in any publicly available material. It is not clear from the reports if the limits extend only to mentions of the Chinese coronavirus or of other types of coronavirus such as the common cold and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

Reports: Iran Has Lost 17 Officials, Nearly 15,000 People to Chinese Coronavirus

The Saudi news agency al-Arabiya identified in a report Monday at least 17 senior members of the Iranian Islamic regime who have died from the Chinese coronavirus since the outbreak in that country began.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the largest anti-regime dissident organization, claimed on Monday that nearly 15,000 people in the country have died of coronavirus infections, about five times the death toll the Iranian regime officials claims to have counted.

Tehran has documented 44,605 cases of Chinese coronavirus within its borders and claims 2,898 people have died since the outbreak began there. In addition to the NCRI, many observers – including local Iranian officials – have disputed this number, most simply by noting that adding up the number of cases and deaths recorded by each Iranian region results in a much larger number than the one documented by the federal government.

According to al-Arabiya, 13 Iranian officials are currently struggling to overcome a coronavirus infection in addition to the 17 who already died. The Saudi outlet claims to have gotten the numbers by compiling reports from Iranian state media on individual officials who have been confirmed as carriers. The coronavirus patients reportedly span nearly all areas of the Iranian regime, including the clergy and the Iranian military, which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei tasked with coronavirus response. Some of the dead publicly blamed the United States for the virus before their demise.

Among those listed as living elite coronavirus patients are well-known cases such as Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Tourism Minister Ali Asghar Mounesan, and Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi, who appeared on television to urge Iranians not to be concerned about the virus shortly before announcing he had tested positive. Harirchi appeared sickly on television, exhibiting signs of fever and cough.

The high number of individuals in the upper ranks of the Iranian dictatorship who have tested positive reflect growing evidence that the outbreak is completely out of control in the country, far from the minor challenge that Khamenei claimed it at the beginning of the month, urging Iranians to wage “jihad” against the virus.

The NCRI, in its daily update using sources on the ground in the country, stated on Monday that it has evidence of over 14,200 dying of coronavirus infections nationwide. This number aligns with the prediction of a World Health Organization (WHO) officials this month that Iran’s official numbers are likely only about a fifth of the true total of cases.

Radio Farda, the Persian wing for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, has kept its own estimates and documented over 66,000 cases and over 4,000 deaths, but by its own admission has stated these estimates are “very conservative, and the real number of the victims could be much higher.”

Radio Farda added that Iran is not counting any cases in Qom, the epicenter of the outbreak, and Tehran, its largest city, towards its official tally, leaving out what is likely the vast majority of its cases.

The NCRI noted that many of the deaths it has documented are occurring in Iran’s medical community, leaving a rapidly shrinking number of health experts available to treat patients.

“The high rate of coronavirus infection in the medical community and the death of many of them, as well as the high rates of coronavirus death in comparison to other countries, will remain as a great question and disappointment,” NCRI quoted Mostafa Moein, the head of the Supreme Medical Council of Iran, as saying in a letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who answers to Khamenei.

NCRI’s claims appear corroborated by reports of desperation in Iran’s hospitals and morgues, and satellite footage of government workers digging what appear to be mass graves to contain the bodies of all the coronavirus dead. Iran has denied that the widely available satellite footage is real.

Khamenei put the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, in charge of containing the virus, including developing a vaccine and manufacturing medical equipment. There is no known evidence the IRGC has any jihadists within its ranks with the background and experience to develop a vaccine for a new pathogen.

In the early part of this month, Dribblin’ Joe Biden all but disappeared for more than a week as he hid in the basement of his Delaware mansion to wait out the coronavirus. Eventually, the 77-year-old’s Keystone Cop Campaign tried to figure out how to do a live stream, something teenagers everywhere have been doing for a decade now.

Once the live stream was finally up and running, the idea had been for Biden to play Shadow President, to address the American people on a daily or near-daily basis by way of an alternate universe where he was in charge of handling the Chinese virus crisis.

The results, depending on your point of view, were either hilarious or disturbing (prick that I am, I found them to be both). Come on…

Let’s not beat around the bush: between January of 2021 and January of 2025, only one of two guys is going to be the American president, and one of those two guys is obviously not up for the job. China Joe simply doesn’t have the stamina, and I mean both physical and mental stamina.

On top of that, the viewership numbers for these live streams, which pop up right on Slow Joe’s Twitter and YouTube accounts, have been humiliating.

I’m not nitpicking here. I’ve had my share of brain freezes doing live radio, podcasts, and even TV. But I have about a hundredth of one-percent of Biden’s media experience and nothing like what’s happened to him — countless times! — has ever happened to me. Sure, you lose your train of thought… This happens. It’s excruciating. But even a klutzy, unskilled introvert like me can finesse his way out of it. Biden can’t because he just doesn’t’ have the faculties anymore.

Let me put it this way…

It’s one thing to forget where you put your keys or what time the Matlock marathon starts; Joe forgot he had been vice president of the United States.

So now we have been gifted with Joe’s “Here’s the Deal” podcasts, and it can be no accident that Joe’s retreated into the safety of a podcast; the safety of a platform where video of Joe’s hilariously disturbing (I’m so bad) brain freezes cannot go viral because there is no video; the safety of a format where Joe’s hilariously disturbing (I’m going to Hell) brain freezes can now be edited out because he’s hiding behind a platform that’s edited before it’s released; the safety of a format where we cannot see if Joe is reading a teleprompter or script

Nevertheless, he still slurs and sounds exhausted.

Worse still, Hunter’s Dad does take “If you were president” questions from “real people” during the podcast, but the questions are pre-screened and recorded, which allows Joe to prepare for them.

What’s especially bizarre, is listening to America’s Serial Young Girl-Sniffer interview people. Instead of playing president, he’s literally a talk radio host.

It’s been four days since Joe hosted his last live stream, and he usually announces the next on his Twitter account, and as of this writing, there is no announcement for another.

And so, if you’ll pardon the expression, here’s the deal: Joe Biden is not fit to be president.

Every. Single. Day. President Trump hangs it all out on national TV taking questions live from a fake news media that hates his guts…

Meanwhile, Joe retreats deeper and deeper into a bubble of fawning interviews (that he still can’t handle) and edited podcasts.
