Vlad the Impaler came back from crusades killing Saracen, to find that they threatened his own lands and was brutal in putting them down (use of extreme force and brutality to an enemy that only respects force and brutality). In addition they have created "deep fake" concept to further muddy the waters once the information about their behavior comes to light, a natural go-to excuse for any of their antics being caught on film.
