Our Military was severely depleted after Barry fucked em over. Some of these kids would've been in severely dangerous places, I would imagine. There's no point in going on suicide missions when that many lives are at stake. These kinds of things are incredibly delicate operations.
In the time that passed between then and now, at lot happened behind the scenes. Plenty of time to prepare. Obviously, our opposition would have time to prepare, as well, but if they were truly caught off guard by the POTUS victory in 2016, then they been scrambling in all directions, trying to make up for the loss. Meanwhile, Patriots probably had a jump start with /Our Plan/ and, well.., here we are.
What's happening? Maybe we have a clue. Perhaps, we're still entirely in the dark. Who knows? Don't want to ruin the movie, tho, so I guess I'll shut up so we can see how this plays out
