the volumes on the rise up and down with the SP500 have been much lower than the other index(s). Also keep in mid the entire thing is a cess-pool and always has been. Naked shorting, over-allotment of shares, games with the market makers etc. You name it they have screwed it up so unless you watch it all the time-and even then its a crap-shoot for the same reasons you mention. Am reminded of the saying you can be so right you are wrong.

At this point it is picking up nickels in front of a steam-roller.

>Most of us are forced into this cesspool

and THAT is what makes this entire operation so difficult..trying to separate the fake crap form the real is the hardest part because all of our assets, retirement accts, savings are all wrapped up in bed with the fake shit.

This is the sole reason I quit actively trading..it was a zero-sum game (most of the time) and still is for the most part. If I had a pile of money I had to put to work now it would in phyzz metal and a small amount of fixed income but those coupon payments are going to getting scarce so there is no easy answer. I had enough of the bullshit so took what I had off the table and live a habby life..not over the top just habby with the things I already have.
