It is justice, and it is prevention, and it is relief - and protection - the removal of a threat and the ability of that one person to ever do again what he has done so, so many times before. If he ever ever going to stop, he has had plenty of time to have done so already. He can't/won't. So he must be stopped, without the possibility that he will ever have an opportunity to do harm again. That means, quite simply, death.
