The Ismaili sect stemmed from the Shia combined with the ancient mysteries. The Assassins were Ismailis, and also the Bahai religion (a cabal favorite) stemmed from it, same as the Roshania cult in Afghanistan.
The connection between the British Empire (city of London) and the Aga Khan are very interesting, to say the least.
