If you heard explosions on Thursday, there's no need to panic.

Tooele Army Depot resumed its open detonation operations at 11 a.m. This practice limits the handling of excess munitions and explosives, helping to protect local resident and employees from injury or damage because of explosive safety risks, according to a press release.

The operations are permitted to run from April 1 to Oct. 31 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

A press release stated: "Safety is the most important consideration. Strict observance of proven OD procedures has resulted in an excellent safety record being earned by the personnel who have helped to destroy the many millions of pounds of obsolete or unstable munitions safely over decades at numerous Department of Defense (DOD) installations."

The Tooele Army Depot is the United State Army post in Tooele County.

It serves as a storage site for war reserve and training ammunition. The depot stores, issues, receives, renovates, modifies, maintains and demilitarizes conventional munitions, according to a press release.

If you have any questions about the detonations, call the Tooele Army Deport detonation hotline at 435-833-3300.

China we see you trolling.

South Korea has built a new port surveillance system with indigenous technologies that improve detection of quiet submarines and other underwater moving objects, the arms procurement agency said Wednesday.

South Korea installs new submarine monitoring system at busy ports South Korea's attack submarine program

The advanced maritime surveillance system, developed by the Agency for Defense Development with a 130 billion- won ($106.6 million) budget since 2015, has been installed at major ports across the country, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said.

The new system adopted an advanced underwater acoustic sensor designed to detect those objects early and share their location information with the military on a real-time basis, as it is linked to the Navy's major command control and surveillance systems, it added.

"This will contribute to strengthening the defense industry's competitiveness by improving the military's surveillance of underwater moving objects and securing the possibility of exporting them abroad in the future," DAPA said in a statement.
