Late March, article noted face mask rose from 85 cents to $7 each because of the sudden demand and states competing against each other to get supplies.
Of course, if states Prepared, they would have begun ordering more in February. 3M and others would have had a demand and started ramping up production sooner. States and hospitals chose to wait for the last second to order necessities for patient and healthcare worker safety.
