-Patsy Marmo began working for the Transport Workers Union (TWU) in the 1940s
-Was an organizer for Michael Quill, aka Red Mike, who was one of the founders of the TWU. Michael Quill was a close ally of the Communist Party USA for the first twelve years of his leadership of the union, he broke with it in 1948.
-Involved as a member of TWU staffers that marched with Reverend Martin Luther King Jr from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
