No, not one possible future.

According to quantum physics, each course of action branches the tree of possible futures. That tree is infinitely complex. Each photon absorbed or emitted branches the tree.

The question in anons' mind is whether some of the multitude of branches so closely resemble one another that the timeline can reunite.

Looking glass: basically they scout ahead and observe some event on some timeline, and if that's an important divergence or desirable future outcome, then you'd scout backwards down that branch to discover where it split off and what actions you can take NOW to either cause or prevent the possible future event that you spied.
