Saw a report that there were 30 mph wind gusts and 2-3 foot seas. If true, who takes a kid out in a canoe, and why did the husband say (I think) he watched them get blown out and not try to get a boat?

Also, no other boats out? I've fished out a people after capsizes a couple of times. On the water enough and you know instantly when a situation is critical wrt to other craft..

If there were no small craft because of wind/seas, then we're back to point one.
