State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) today released a statement in regards to being invited to join Attorney General Dave Yost’s Human Trafficking Commission, a team of law enforcement, social service providers, academic experts and government partners that work collaboratively to combat human trafficking across the state:

“Since the beginning of my time here in the legislature, I have been fighting to end human trafficking,” said Galonski. “I am thankful that both the Attorney General and the Governor have been working with us to tackle this modern day slavery. We need to support survivors, educate the masses and ensure that perpetrators are punished. A clear message shall be sent that Ohio is a zero tolerance state for human trafficking.”

Last month, Galonksi hosted the 11th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day along with Sens. Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) and Stephanie Kunze (R-Columbus) at the Ohio Statehouse. The event brought together survivors and advocates from throughout the state to work toward the eradication of all forms of human trafficking.
