Oliver Stone was definitely anti-DS when he made his movie "JFK". For approximately 18 months PRIOR to the release of the Movie, the MSM roasted Stone with one sensational hit-piece after another. Often Stone would pen a reply to these obvious Mockingbird shills. Clearly there was an information war being waged over the "hearts and minds" of the American People in advance of the Film's release.
However, as with the Mockingbird MSM's non-stop campaign against QAnon, the DS, then, like today, were totally unaware of the "Streisand Effect". The ongoing public feud in the press just seemed to whet the public's interest and curiosity over the "Mother of All Conspiracy Theories". A consistent large majority of Americans never bought the official conclusion of the Warren Commission that a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, acted alone in assassinating JFK and murdering Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippett.
Poll after poll indicated that 75% (give or take a few % points) of the Public believe that there was a conspiracy to kill JFK. Oliver Stone decided to commit that National lack of closure to celluloid. However, never did he expect the coming onslaught as the Deep State marshaled all of its media assets to nitpick to death a purloined copy of Film's Script. The criticisms were always over minor discrepancies with actual facts but that didn't stop each correspondent from claiming that Stone was a revisionist of the first order.
I, myself, got caught up in the crossfire between Stone and his critics. At the time that this Book was published in 1992, I was still in touch with my old mentor Harold Weisberg, a veteran, former Senate investigator who, along with Mark Lane, was a pioneer researcher/critic/author of numerous self-published criticisms of the Warren Report. Harold had told me that Stone had sent him a copy of the script to review and provide input. However, Stone soon leveled charges that it was Weisberg who leaked the script to the press.
As counter productive as it sounds, Weisberg was against release of the Movie because Harold was a stickler when it came to the facts. In Harold's view, any liberty Stone would take with the facts in his Movie would ultimately come back to hurt the ardent JFK Researching Community and would undermine much of the progress made by the early 90s.
So in answering your question, anon, you only have to know that the MSM treated Stone in the same fashion they have been treating QAnon and 8kun.
