As time has progressed I've come to totally understand and actually support witch-burning.
>made to learn about witch-burning and witch trials and sympathize with the poor oppressed ladies in school, compulsory
>constant interference on the part of the media to make witches and sorcery cool
>almost always includes a plot about how witches are oppressed and forced into hiding by ignorant muggles
>this at a time when demons and the occult and outright devil worship are clearly just having a party with the modern zeitgeist
>satanic panic covered up and made to seem ridiculous while simultaneously injecting satan into everything
>we're probably at the point where a major celebrity could outright be exposed as an evil sorceress and people would be like, "Yo, that's cool, sorcery must be cool"
>simultaneously trying to get people to disbelieve in the effectiveness of magic while also using magic on them and tempting them to dabble in it through occultism and new age bullshit
And that's before we even get into what these occultists actually DO to harness those dark powers.
I'm starting to think death squads who drag you screaming into the street and execute you in the most horrific, public, and undignified fashion possible was probably the right way to handle witches. They've gotten cocky and pulled the wool over people's eyes.
