The White House has an apocalyptic asteroid plan … just in case.

"According to the document, the White House will carry this out by “enhancing the integration of existing national and international assets and adding important capabilities that are currently lacking.”

The plan lays out seven main goals that will (hopefully) save us from cataclysmic destruction. They include:

Make NEO detection and tracking better

Find a way to divert or blow up threatening NEOs

Improve our models and predictions

Develop emergency procedures in case an impact is inevitable

Figure out a procedure in the event of an impact

Coordinate with other countries

Create protocols to implement when immediate action is needed.

On Jan. 3, NASA said it detected two massive objects headed toward Earth. It identified one as a comet, and said it had no idea what the second one is."
