Regarding FDA approval of prescribing Hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19:
I am not a med person but I used to work with special needs kids.
A lot of them are on meds.
Some of the kids I worked with had Behavior Disorders.
Some of the kids were on seizure meds., not because they had seizures but because the seizure meds. made them more docile.
It was my understanding that the docs were allowed to prescribe these drugs, not for their initial purpose, but for the side effects that they caused.
Similar to Tylenol PM containing an antihistamine (same as Benadryl has). A side effect of taking a antihistamine, is drowsiness, so people take it for the side effect, not because they are congested.
What I was wondering, if there is a med. person who knows, is why, if Hydroxychlorquine was already approved by the FDA for malaria, etc., why a doc. couldn't prescribe it for other reasons, before the FDA approved it for Covid-19?
