To maintain their stockpile and prevent the creation of a demand for the product.
Hydroxychloroquine is used to treat several things, malaria primarily, but it is also used to treat porphyria cutanea tarda, a disease which is believed to have led to vampire myths. If they genuinely drink human blood, they'll have excess iron in their systems as has been discussed extensively in past breads the last few weeks. That much extra iron in the body would likely give them sporadic porphyria cutanea tarda. They would literally become vampires, aversion to sunlight and everything.
The specific mechanism behind how porphyria cutanea tarda works, according to wikipedia…
>results from low levels of the enzyme responsible for the fifth step in heme production.
>the fifth step in heme production
>the fifth step
Though, of course, as we all know
THERE IS NO STEP FIVE
They need hydroxychloroquine to keep their vampirism from becoming visible (and possibly to live), so the public-demand creating a shortage will lead to them not being able to be seen or they will be exposed.
It might not be safe for them to walk the streets at that point, who knows.
That's why they don't want to air POTUS's briefings, where he talks non-stop about how great hydroxychloroquine is for potentially treating and stopping this global pandemic.
That's why they've been in hysterics claiming Trump is committing crimes against humanity, from their point of view he actually is because he's creating an artificial demand for the medicine they need to survive either physically or socially.
Except it's not an aritificial demand, since it apparently works to treat this novel virus that mysteriously appeared just a few months ago…
